Tips for Managing Diversity in the workplace:
-Educate all employees about diversity and its issues including laws and regulations.
- Be open to change
-Take the time to become knowledgable about the skills, background, and knowledge of your staff
-Hold team sessions where employees can take the time to share ideas, values, heritage,and culture
- Always apply the platinum rule: Treat others as they wish to be treated.
-Try to overcome language barriers by having appropriate interperters and translating all written documents into languages that all employees can understand
- Attend and recommend formal diversity training to all employees.
- Focus on self awareness and be aware of your own personal biases and prejudices.
